This trip is a 10-day itinerary to discover Gambia, starting with our arrival at Banjul International Airport, after meeting and shared our first impressions at the meeting point at Barcelona Airport (Spain).
During these days, we will have an immersive experience in a new culture as we head into the heart of the country following the course of the Gambia River. We will stay in different hotels that will allow us to discover various areas of the country: from rural and natural settings to the coastal area, with access to its beautiful beaches. There, we can take peaceful walks while watching local fishermen returning with their boats after a long day’s work.
In addition to enjoying a unique trip, the main objective is to support those who want to drive positive change in their country. Therefore, this trip is also an opportunity to get a close look at their reality and contribute directly.
We will discover the authentic Africa, far from mass tourism, where traditions and lifestyle have remained almost intact over the years. We will do so with the comfort of a small group of between 10 and 14 people, allowing for a much more personal experience that respects the daily life of local communities.
Meals will take place in different restaurants so you can enjoy both international gastronomy and, above all, local Gambian cuisine, full of authentic flavors thanks to the traditional sauces that accompany meat and fish dishes.
Each day will be filled with varied activities: spending time with local communities, cycling through villages, visiting natural spaces of forests and rivers with activities like canoeing, and the chance to discover protected wildlife such as crocodiles, chimpanzees, or monkeys. We will also meet local associations and entrepreneurs who are an essential part of this project and work to improve the future of their communities.
During our travels, we will use our own minibus, which will allow us to move comfortably through a country where roads and transport infrastructure are still limited. Our local driver, a key person in the project, will accompany us throughout the route, providing their experience and knowledge of the country. I will also be with you from the very first moment and throughout the trip to help you make the most of the experience and to explain, in a natural and personal way, the culture, history, and way of life in Gambia.
The philosophy of this trip is clear: to be in direct contact with the people, the history, and the nature of the country, always with respect for the environment. Furthermore, it has a clear social and solidarity dimension. Everything we invest through your participation—in addition to any purchases or collaborations you may make during your stay—goes directly to the local communities, without intermediaries, with the goal of leaving a positive footprint with every trip we make.
