The Abaraka – Responsible Travel project was born from many years of wanting to change things and being able to leave an important and positive mark somewhere or for someone. After various personal and professional experiences in life, as anyone else might experience, I decided to take an 11-day trip across the entire territory of Gambia along its river, going from one end of the country to the other, discovering places with enormous significance for the population. When passing through areas and villages where collaboration was essential, my mind underwent such a change that I spent half the trip thinking about what to do when I returned to continue contributing to one of the 10 poorest countries in the world, but where people would give you everything to welcome you and make your stay pleasant. With the passing of months and faced with the need to bring aid there, eliminating intermediaries and providing real local support, the idea for this project materialized. Abaraka is not just me. I am merely the one who will answer calls or emails to provide information on how to discover all this on one of the ethical and conscious trips we have scheduled.
